Dealing with homelessness, PHASED IN provides the city of Muncie, IN with six tiny homes as transitional housing units. These 180 SQ. FT., Affordable, net positive home provide the homeless with a stable living environment while giving them a community to thrive in. Built from shipping containers these units are modular, reusable, and adaptable while reducing construction cost due to the structural integrity and enclosure of containers. A simplistic, centralized layout maintains views and access to community gathering spaces at all three phases of development.
PHASE 1:
Foundations and bathroom units placed to create the footprint of future structures while providing open space for surrounding neighborhood as well as a safe and open space for temporary housing for the homeless
PHASE 2:
As units appear, the site develops further with the
community center and greenhouse for residents
PHASE 3:
All units placed, forming enclosed community
